"SRH vs RR IPL 2025 Match 2 Review: Kishan’s Century Powers Sunrisers to Victory"

The Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium saw a run-fest in the second IPL 2025 match as Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) powered to a dominating 44-run win over Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Sunday afternoon. SRH's big-hitting batting, spearheaded by a dazzling maiden IPL hundred from Ishan Kishan, set the tone for a high-voltage encounter that announced their supremacy and made a stern statement to the league.

SRH celebrating the taking wickets

Batting first following RR

acting skipper Riyan Parag winning the toss and deciding to field, SRH mounted a blistering attack, scoring a gargantuan 286/6 in their allotted 20 overs – the second-highest score in IPL history, one run less than their previous best of 287 achieved last season. Kishan, playing his first match for the Orange Army, hit an unbeaten 106 off 45 deliveries, lashing the boundary with 11 fours and 6 sixes. Travis Headset the platform on fire with a blistering 67 from 31 balls, while Heinrich Klaasen (32) and Nitish Kumar Reddy (28) chipped in with rapid-fire cameos to keep the scoring rate going at a burning pace.

RR's bowlers

found it difficult to hold back the onslaught, and Jofra Archer had a horror comeback to the IPL. The English medium pacer gave away a record 76 runs in his four overs without getting a wicket, the most expensive spell in the history of the IPL. Tushar Deshpande (3/44) was the lone bowler who showed some resistance, but that too proved insufficient to stop the flow.

Pursuing 287, Rajasthan Royals

struggled hard but came up short at 242/6. Dhruv Jurel also top-scored with a commendable 70, while Sanju Samson, who joined as an Impact Player after hurting his finger, added a snappy 66. The duo added a 100-plus alliance to keep RR in the picture, but the early losses – including Yashasvi Jaiswal being dismissed cheaply for 1 – and an organized SRH bowling effort in the hands of Simarjeet Singh (2/46) and Mohammed Shami left the target untouchable

SRH’s victory

was a statement of intent, building on their aggressive blueprint from IPL 2024, where they finished as runners-up. Captain Pat Cummins praised his team’s fearless approach, saying, “We’ve got the firepower to dominate, and today was just the start.” Meanwhile, RR’s Riyan Parag, stepping up as captain in Samson’s absence, acknowledged the tough day, noting, “We tried our best, but their batting was exceptional.”
